Big Win For Karaoke Rights In China

bobbykaraoke | News | Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

In follow-up to our brilliant, breaking coverage of the new “fees” threatened on Karaoke club owners in China, we would like to be the first to announce that the city is resisting the threatened fees with it’s own version of the Boston Tea Party… we like to call it the KaraoKEE Party. HAHAHAA!!

Okay, truth be told, it isn’t all quite that dramatic. According to the Shanghai Daily, it turns out the Entertainment Industry Association opposes the collection of karaoke royalties as it doubts the validity of the charge levied by the China Audio and Video Association. Mad props, guys.
